Andrzej Gieraga (Śliwniki 1934, lives in Lodz) - studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz; he received his diploma with honors in 1971. Since 1977 he has been a teacher at the academy, since 1990 a professor. Gieraga's work is divided into two periods, with a caesura around 1990. In the first, he achieved a recognizable style. Reduced to black and white, the color scheme was complemented by the contrast of textures (matte, glossy) used. A feature of Gieraga's second period is a return to color and abandonment of forms with organic shapes.
