Rafal Kostrzewa spent his early youth in Moscow, studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and received his diploma in the studio of Prof. Tadeusz Dominik in 1987.
He had his first solo exhibition in 1985 at the Stodoła Gallery. Two years later he showed his works in Rotterdam at the Academy of Fine Arts there and Galeri Alles. The artist's exhibition at the Promotional Gallery of the Old Town House of Culture in Warsaw (1988) was highly acclaimed. In December 2003, on the occasion of a show of paintings at the Art Gallery of the Warsaw ZPAP, a publication dedicated to the artist, "Rafal Kostrzewa - Enchanter of Paintings" was published.
His original paintings are inspired by nature and the animal world, which is often an independent subject of paintings. Silhouettes of dogs, foxes and other quadrupeds fill the canvas surface densely and are its only protagonists. Surprising figures of imaginary creatures, sharp, bold colors and rich painting matter suggestively work on the viewer's imagination. She lives near Warsaw.
