The giclée was based on a 1973 drawing by Zdzislaw Beksinski. The drawings, executed by the artist in the 1970s on large paper formats, were stylistically similar to the paintings of the fantastic period, which were created simultaneously with them. Work on the release of a limited edition of Beksinski's giclée, was initiated in January 2003 by the now-defunct Canadian company Belvedere Gallery. Within five months of starting work, dozens of prints were made under the close supervision of the Master. They were created from scans entrusted by Beksinski, on paper selected by the artist.
