The presented sculpture is a reduction of the monument erected on the University Bridge in Wroclaw (Flood, 1998, bronze, height 245 cm). The monument commemorates the efforts of Wroclaw citizens in fighting the flood of the millennium in July 1997. The monument pays tribute to all volunteers who protected the city, its monuments from the flood wave - also saving from inundation the library resources of the University of Wroclaw, threatened by the river flowing nearby.

Stanislaw Wysocki (Elk 1949, lives in Wroclaw) - sculptor. In 1978-80 he studied at the Poznan State Academy of Fine Arts, and later in (1981-86) at the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin, in the studio of Prof. J..H. Lonas. He received his diploma in sculpture in 1986.During his studies in Berlin, he worked as an apprentice at the famous sculpture foundry "Herman NOACK Bildgieserei", where he met many world-renowned sculptors, including Henry Moore. Cooperation in making sculptures resulted in a residency at his Pery Green studio near London in 1990. Currently, the artist lives in Wroclaw. He has had about 30 solo exhibitions and dozens of group exhibitions. His works have been exhibited in Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, England, Turkey and numerous galleries in the country.
