Hermann August Plathner (Gronau 1831 - Düsseldorf 1902) was a German painter of genre scenes. He initially studied economics at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1854 he began his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf under Adolph Tidemand and Rudolf Jordan. From 1862 he ran his own painting studio in Düsseldorf.
