Landscape painter (1849 Würzburg - 1925) a pupil of A. Lier and Stademan in Munich. He was active in Germany, England and Italy. He was an honorary member of the Munich Academy. He participated in many exhibitions, including those in Paris, Vienna, Munich and London. His paintings are in the collections of museums in Bristol, Munich, Melbourne and Sydney. His favorite subject of his paintings were mountain landscapes. He painted motifs from Bavaria, England and the Netherlands, as well as Italian views from around Ostia and Rome, and later the North Sea coast and the island of Rügen. He was a painter highly regarded by critics and the public. He was considered the founder of a new, melancholic and poetic trend in Munich landscape painting.
