On the reverse, on the right (in blue crayon): aus der | [...] | Ficher | Mainz; also a sticker of Christie's auction house; on the frame, on the left and upper bar, stickers of Christie's auction house.

Thomas Wijck (Beverwijk 1616 - Haarlem 1677) was a Dutch painter. He was probably in Italy around 1640 and two years later appeared in Haarlem. In 1660 he joined the Guild of St. Luke. He painted genre scenes, landscapes and his works are in museum collections in, among others: Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Courtauld Institute of Art in London, Museum of Art History in Vienna, Hermitage in St. Petersburg. The National Museum in Warsaw has a painting of a washerwoman in a courtyard.
